Family Hub — Privacy Policy

Your data stays private. Family Hub stores all your family data in your private iCloud account. We never see, collect, or have access to your family’s data. The only external service is a lightweight AI proxy used for the optional Jarvis assistant (see Section 4).

1. Our Core Privacy Principle

Jason Sleeman (“we”, “us”, “our”) built Family Hub as a free iOS application. All information you enter — lists, meals, calendar events, chat messages — is stored exclusively in your family’s private iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit service.

If you delete the app, your data remains safely in your iCloud account. If our company ceases to exist, your data is completely unaffected.

2. What Data Is Stored

Family Hub stores the following data in your iCloud account:

Family information — family name, member display names, and profile avatars
Lists — grocery items, dinner plans, and custom lists you create
Calendar events — global family events and mirrored snapshots of Apple Calendar events you choose to share
Chat messages — your Jarvis AI conversation history and family group chat messages
Preferences — calendar visibility, conflict dismissal patterns, and notification settings
Learning data — patterns the app learns when you dismiss scheduling conflicts

All of this data is stored in your family’s private CloudKit zone. We have no access to it.

3. Apple Calendar Access

Family Hub requests access to your Apple Calendar to mirror selected calendars into the shared family view:

Permission-based — the app only accesses your calendars after you grant explicit permission
User-controlled — you choose which calendars to share; unselected calendars are never read
Read-only mirroring — the app reads events to display in the family calendar but does not modify your Apple Calendar
Local processing — calendar data is processed on your device

You can revoke calendar access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

4. Jarvis AI Assistant

Family Hub includes an optional AI assistant called Jarvis, available as an in-app subscription. Jarvis is powered by the Anthropic Claude API via a developer-operated proxy:

Subscription required — Jarvis AI is unlocked via an auto-renewable subscription with Family Sharing. The app is fully functional without it.
Proxy architecture — AI requests are routed through a lightweight Cloudflare Worker proxy operated by us. The proxy is stateless — it does not store, log, or retain any user data. It exists solely to securely forward your request to the Anthropic API and return the response.
What is sent — your message, family member first names, current grocery items, tonight’s dinner plan, and upcoming calendar event titles/times
What is NOT sent — Apple IDs, iCloud identifiers, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information
No persistent storage — each request is stateless; neither the proxy nor Anthropic retains your data beyond processing

5. Push Notifications

Family Hub uses Apple Push Notifications via CloudKit subscriptions to notify you of changes (e.g., new list items, chat messages). Notifications are delivered through Apple’s standard infrastructure and can be disabled in your device settings.

6. Widgets

Home screen and lock screen widgets display summaries of your family data. Widget data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any external service.

7. Data Sharing Within Your Family

When you join a family in Family Hub, shared data is visible to all accepted members. This sharing is powered by Apple’s CloudKit sharing and controlled by the family owner. Personal list items remain private unless you explicitly share them.

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

All data is in your iCloud account — you can delete items within the app at any time
Removing the app does not delete your iCloud data; to fully remove data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Family Hub
The AI proxy is stateless and retains no user data. We do not operate any other server.

10. Children’s Privacy

Family Hub may be used by children as part of a family group. We do not collect personal information from children independently. All data is managed within the family’s iCloud account, controlled by the family admin.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
